Where To Get Your 2025/26 Matric Results

Getting your 2025/2026 matric results is a lot easier than it used to be. Of course, your first port of call should always be your school, which will have the results for you after noon on release day. However, there are plenty of other options.

It is important to remember that these results are not the same as your official statement of results. This, which you will receive with your matric certificate, is the document that tertiary education institutions will want from you to prove your results. This will need to be collected from your school,m or by arrangement from a Department of Education office. They can be replaced if lost, but this is a paid process, so be careful with your certificates.

How Can I Check My Matric Results Online (2026)?

The easiest way to check your 2026 matric results online will be through the Department of Basic Education’s Online Portal. You will be able to view your results after they are officially released. You will sign on with your ID number and your matric exam number- the one you used during the exam session. Your school may also offer online services, and you can check your result in many newspapers published online, too.

How Do I Check My News24 Matric Results?

News24 and many other national, provincial, and local newspapers also publish the matric results annually. Don’t worry! Your results will not be published with your ID or name alongside it, to maintain confidentiality and privacy. Instead, you will look up your exam results on these lists by your matric exam number. Remember that these are third-party services, and they may not be as accurate as getting your results directly from the Department of Basic Education either through your school or their online portal and phone services.

Can I Check My Matric Results Online With My ID Number?

You will need your ID number to check your matric results online through the Department of Basic Education portal.  However, you cannot check your matric results anywhere without also having your matric exam number. This is the number you were issued when you wrote your final exams. If you have forgotten this, check any communication you have regarding the final exam session, such as letters about the exam center, as it should be written there. Alternatively, you can contact your school for assistance.

You should receive your official matric certificate and statement of results from the school at which you wrote your exams, or via collection/post from the Department of Basic Education.

What Date Will The Matric Results Be Released in 2026?

There seems to be some confusion as to when the class of 2026 matriculants will receive their examination results. Typically, matric results are released in mid-January. Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced earlier this year that marking will be finished by 15 January 2026, with the results released on 24 February 2026. This is over a month later than is normal in South Africa.

Additionally, the Western Cape Government is announcing a date of 19 January 2025, and the matric results will never be released in only one province. There is no further clarity on the discrepancy, although we are sure some will be received shortly.

How Can I Check My Matric Results By Phone?

There are two ways to get your matric results by phone:

SMS your matric exam number and ID number to 35658. Once you finish the steps for registration, you will receive your results by SMS on your phone on the day they are released. There are costs to register for this service- currently R3.

Alternatively, you can use the USSD service on the day results are announced. Dial *120*35658# and follow the prompts, including your ID number and matric exam number. Once this process is complete, results per subject will be sent to your phone per subject.

Getting your 2026/2026 matric results is easier than ever. Luckily, you no longer have to wait for your school to open to get your results, and you have many easy ways to access your results nearly immediately once they are released. We wish you the best of luck!
