The National Student Financial Aid Scheme(NSFAS) is a South African government financial aid scheme that gives financial aid to undergraduate students to help pay for the cost of their higher education after graduating high school. The Department of Higher Education and Training funds it. So lack of funds should not stand between you and your dream of attending a university as a South African. This guide will provide all the necessary information to see your 2025 NSFAS application goes through successfully.
When is NSFAS opening for 2025 late application?
Anyone who is a citizen of South Africa can fill out an NSFAS Application. Students interested in applying for NSFAS for the 2025–2026 school year should do so before January 31, 2025. The National Student Financial Aid Service (NSFAS) has begun its application for the academic year 2025; interested candidates who have not yet been accepted to a university or TVET College are strongly encouraged to do so before the application deadline.
Is NSFAS still open for 2025 late applications?
Yes. Applications are open until January 31, 2025.
Does NSFAS open for late applications?
Some applicants may be tempted to submit their forms late because, in the past, the bursary scheme has allowed for late submissions past the first deadline. We can make a new start this time. If you submit your NSFAS application after January 31, 2025, you will be denied funding and given the status “APPLICATION RECEIVED AFTER CLOSING DATE” by the NSFAS. Due to the lack of recourse for applicants whose applications are rejected after the deadline, timely submission is essential.
How do you apply for NSFAS If you already have an account?
A straightforward application process characterizes the NSFAS Scheme. Anyone interested in applying for NSFAS can do so easily by visiting nsfas.org.za. It is also possible for applicants to pick up paper copies of the application at any NYDA branch. It’s important to emphasize that students are responsible for providing accurate information in any forms they submit. You risk denying your application if you don’t provide the required materials.
Students who received NSFAS funding the previous academic year are not needed to reapply for support this academic year. After receiving the Agreement Form signed by the appropriate parties, monies will be disbursed. However, it’s important to remember that to keep receiving financial aid; students must keep their cumulative grade points over 50%.
You can see a summary of the steps required to apply for NSFAS financing below if you don’t have an account.
