The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has a grant called “Social Relief Distress” (SRD) to help people who are financially weak. The grant was made because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It helps people who have lost their money or way of making a living because of the pandemic.

To apply for the SRD grant, one must either fill out an online form or go to a SASSA office to apply in person. Those who want to apply must meet certain requirements, such as being a South African citizen, a permanent resident, or a refugee with a legal permit. Once an application is sent in, it goes through a verification process. If the grant is accepted, the money is sent to the applicant’s bank account or sent as cash. During this hard time, the SRD grant is important for many South Africans to stay alive.

In this post, we will look at the point of having an application awaiting, the timeline for the pending SASSA application status, how to fix SRD pending status, and the increase in the SRD grant amount.

What Does “Awaiting Application” Mean on SASSA SRD

Many people do not understand the term “awaiting application” on the SASSA SRD platform. Well, in this article, we will explain how the SASSA application works and what it means to have your SASSA SRD application reading “Awaiting Application”.

If you have submitted an application for the SRD grant, you might see the words “awaiting application” when checking the status of your application on the SASSA website. This is because the SRD grant is currently receiving applications.

The message “Awaiting Application” informs you that SASSA has not yet received your application and that it will not be handled at this time.

This indicates that Sassa has received neither an initial application nor a reapplication for your SRD award. If you have received this message, you are reminded to submit an application for an SRD grant or to reapply for one.

It is essential to remember that to be considered for the SRD award; applicants must first satisfy a set of qualifying requirements. These include not having a job, not receiving any other sort of social grant or unemployment insurance, and not having any other means of sustaining one’s financial situation.

In addition to this, the applicant needs to be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa, and their monthly salary can’t be more than a specified amount.

The amount of time needed to process applications may change based on the number of applications received and the specifics of each case.

How long will my SASSA status be pending?

The South African Social Security body (SASSA) is a government body that handles social grants for people who qualify. As of last year, more than a million people were getting grants from SASSA.

The status of SASSA can change based on things like the number of applications being processed and how complete the application is. When an application for SASSA is “pending,” it means that the office is still reviewing the application and deciding if the person is eligible.’

The amount of time that SASSA status is “pending” can vary. Some applications can be processed quickly and accepted in a few weeks, while others can take several months to be finalized. When applying, it’s important for applicants to give correct and full information so that processing doesn’t take too long.

Ideally, it can take between 7 to 14 days to have a SASSA application status turnaround after reading pending.

How do I fix SRD pending status?

When applying for financial support from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), it’s important to understand the application process.

SASSA carefully evaluates each application to ensure the applicant meets the necessary criteria for receiving financial assistance. This involves a series of thorough processes designed to determine the applicant’s eligibility and need for support.

By following the application guidelines and providing accurate information, applicants can increase their chances of receiving the financial support they need.

Pending means your application has not yet been approved; your details must be screened and verified first. After your application for social grants has been approved, you will receive a text message from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) requesting your banking information. Once you have provided your banking details, you will receive your grant payments through the payment medium provided.

It is important to ensure that the banking information you provide is accurate and updated to avoid any delays in receiving your payments.

To get your SASSA SRD grant out of the “pending” state, first, ensure your application is complete and correct. If any information is missing or wrong, it can slow down the review process or stop it from happening at all.

Is the R350 grant increased to R700?

Even though a lot of people in South Africa may ask for their SASSA SRD grant to go from R350 to R700, it is very important to always find the correct information. If you give in to con artists’ tricks or let yourself be fooled by fake information, you could lose a lot of money.

No decision has been made about whether SASS will make the R350 grant bigger. As of now, the Social Security Administration has yet to tell the public about any price hikes.

SASSA has told people to refrain from spreading information about how the SASSA SRD grant will go up from R350 to R700. There have been reports that the SASSA SRD R350 will go up, but these are false.
