Why Is SRD Approved for One Month And Not the Other?

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides financial support to unemployed people living in South Africa. The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant plays a crucial role in the lives of many beneficiaries. However, some recipients of the SRD grant have complained about inconsistencies in application statuses that can vary from time to time. For example, other recipients are approved for payment for one month and not subsequent months. This article explains everything you want to know about issues that can affect grant approval.

Why Is SRD Approved for One Month And Not the Other?

First and foremost, the SRD grant is a preserve for the needy people living in South Africa with no other source of income. Therefore, SASSA undertakes thorough verification checks every month to ensure that only deserving people receive financial assistance. Different reasons can lead to the termination of a grant even when you have been approved to get it.

If SASSA verifies your bank account and discovers that it has money that exceeds the minimum threshold, your grant will be withdrawn. The minimum balance threshold for one to get aid is R624. If you have more than this amount when verification is conducted, you will be canceled. Additionally, there is no set timeframe for the bank verification process.

SRD grant is for people without other means to procure basic needs like food or electricity. Therefore, this might be the reason for not getting the money even after your application was approved when you first applied. It is essential to keep the money in your account below the recommended threshold to continue receiving the money.

SASSA also verifies the information you provide on your application for accuracy. Details about your ID number, bank balance, income, address, mobile number, and living conditions must be correct since they are evaluated to determine if you deserve to get the R350 fund. SASSA does not pay grant money into an account belonging to another individual other than the registered beneficiary.

Even if you enter the wrong information by mistake, this will make it difficult for you to get the money. However, the good thing is that you can correct or update your details if you believe that they are causing the non-payment of your SRD grant.

The delay in payment can be caused by the large volumes of applications to be processed. SASSA processes millions of other forms of grants apart from the R350 fund. All applications are verified first before the money is released to various beneficiaries. The verification process can take time, which can affect your monthly payment of the grant.

What to Do When SASSA Approved but No Payment?

When SASSA has approved your application, but there is no payment yet, you must be patient to give the agency enough room to complete the processing of payments for that particular month. As you are now aware, SASSA processes payments for millions of recipients every month, and this can cause a delay in receiving your grant. If this is the case, then there is nothing you can do except wait for the money to be processed and credited into your bank account.

If you provide someone’s bank account as your preferred payment method, you will not get any money. Make sure you provide your account and check if the information is accurate. Alternatively, you can change your payment method. For example, the cash payment option is faster than other methods.

The challenge of SASSA R350 approved, but no payment received can be a result of the cancellation of your application. If there is more than R624 in your account during the verification process, SASSA will cancel the grant, and there is nothing you can do to reverse the situation. It is essential to ensure that you meet all the requirements to avoid such inconveniences.

How Long Does SASSA Take To Pay After Approval?

Once your application has been approved, the grant payment can take up to two days to show in your bank account. However, the number of outstanding payments can determine when you will get your money.

What Does Approved for Payment Date Mean?

Approved for payment date means SASSA has not yet transferred money to your account, but you can expect to get it on the date they have provided. The agency will soon be processing your grant money, so there will be no need to worry.

One thing you should understand about the payment of the SRD R350 grant is that it is a gradual process. Therefore, all beneficiaries cannot receive their payments at the same time. SASSA payments are released in batches, so your date may still be far.

SASSA has also introduced measures to prevent issues like fraud which explains why applications can be approved but with no payment date. If there is no payment date, you might have provided incorrect banking details or other necessary details will be missing.

There are different reasons why SASSA approves SRD grants for one month and not the other. All beneficiaries whose bank accounts exceed the minimum threshold will be canceled even if they were approved in the first place. Another issue is that SASSA does not credit SRD money into someone’s account other than the beneficiary. Make sure all your details are correct before submitting your application. However, if payment delays are caused by system challenges or large volumes of applications, you need to be patient since you cannot change the situation.
