calculation, hence the need to prepare from the Grade 12 class.

In this blog post, we will dive into the matric exams and share with you a simple guide on how to pass your matric finals.

How to Pass Matric Finals

If you really commit yourself to your studies, you can successfully pass your Matric final examination. It is important for you to participate in both internal and external assessments. These assessments are crucial in determining your final mark for Matric, which ultimately determines whether you pass or fail.

As a Matric student, it is recommended to dedicate a minimum of four to six hours per week to studying. If you study for more hours, you will be able to gain more knowledge. If you want to prevent yourself from feeling overwhelmed, one strategy you can try is dividing your study time. It’s important to give yourself a break of around 15 minutes after every hour of studying. You will be less likely to get tired. Passing your matriculation exams is not something that happens magically; it requires active involvement and dedication.

These are some tips that will help you prepare for your exams and increase your chances of success.

Internal Assessments

For those who are not familiar with the matric calculation may be new to this. If you did not know about the internal assessment being part of your final matric results, then here you go.

This internal assessment is meant for students who are preparing for the matric exams. However, the internal assessment is not given in an impromptu manner, but it forms part of your daily school work. This means taking every class and subject seriously can increase your chance of scoring higher marks in the internal assessment. The internal assessment constitutes 25% of your total matric final marks.

Oral presentations, class tests, homework, and tests are all part of the internal assessment.

External Assessments

It is considered to be an external assessment because of the nature of the exams. This is prepared by a board, which is known as the department of education. The external assessment is prepared, managed, regulated, and assessed by the third party, which is DBE.

If you are looking to pass your final matric exams, the focus is to prepare well. This is the greater part of your final matric exams, as it counts as 75% of your total final matric grade. In order to get a pass in your matric, you must at least have a minimum score of 50%, which includes both the internal and external assessment.  Your total marks for the matric final are calculated based on these two, and the external assessment takes one-fourth of it.

The external assessment is the final matric grade organized by the DBE and marked by the DBE. Once you get it right, you are on the road to scoring a higher mark for your final matric exams.

How Can I Focus On My Matric Studies?

Focus is all about setting the time, the pace, and the strategy. As humans, there are so many things that put us in a situation where we can lose focus. These are inevitable about humans, but when there is a task ahead, it is necessary to avoid any distractions.

Focusing on your studies is not only about studying for longer hours but also about understanding what you are studying. If you want to focus on your matric studies, you must do away with social media or anything that may take away your attention.

Paying key attention to details can help you have a high sense of focus on what you are studying.

How Many Hours Should A Matric Student Study?

There are times when someone may sit behind the book for hours and may not have grabbed anything at all. There are even moments when you may have studied, but everything is scattered in your mind.

The number of hours does not have a direct influence on what you grab or how you can pass your exams. However, it is assumed that the longer you study, the chances are that you grab most of the things in your book.

In all these, it is advisable to study between 4 to 6 hours every day. But remember not to sit throughout the study period but at least take a 15-minute break every 2 hours. Sitting and studying can help with your posture and body alignment. This also forms part of studying for long hours without getting too stressed or tired.

How Can I Study Harder?

Studying hard can be a difficult thing as it does not have something definite, but there are certain tips that could be useful for you. These tips will help you understand what you are doing wrong and what you are doing right.

Here are 10 key tips that will teach you how you can study harder.

Study Using Past Exam Papers

Using the past exam papers is a great way to prepare yourself for the final matric. This does not mean getting the same questions in the matric exams. However, there is a likelihood of meeting similar questions or related questions in the past questions.

Also, you get to understand the arrangement and structure of the questions that are expected in the final matric exams. This is a positive way to know what lies ahead of you and give you a pictorial view of how the exam papers may be structured.

Have Study Sessions With Other Students

Having study sessions with other students or friends(within the same class group) can help you study better. It is a productive way of studying as there is an extensive check done by the groups to know the various topics and answers to them.

Group studies are highly recommended as they help you to know what you might have missed or what escaped you.

Ask Your Teachers For Assistance

Your teachers are the first stop point if you don’t understand anything. These are all trained people to help you elevate yourself and eliminate any oblivious topics.

If you do not understand a topic or an assignment, you can fall on your teachers to explain things better to you. This will widen your knowledge and understanding in certain areas for your matric finals.

When Should I Start Studying For Finals?

Planning to fail is preparing to fail. One thing most students do is wait until the last minute to study for their final exams. Certainly, there are students who may study last minute and yet pass the exams, but that can be risky.

You can start studying for your final matric should your matric registration be confirmed. Once there is that assurance of writing the matric exams, you can start planning to study. However, preparing a month ahead of your final exams can give you ample time to look at the various topics and how you can digest them.
