You can get your SRD reference number through the use of the WhatsApp platform. Add 082 046 8553 to your WhatsApp contacts, compose your message and send it to the number. Explain your issue, and one of the SASSA officials will guide you on how to recover your reference number. Follow the instructions provided, and you can view your reference number. Keep the number in a safe place to avoid inconveniences in the future. 

Another option you can consider to get your SASSA reference number is to use the USSD helpline number. Unlock your phone and dial *120*3210# and follow the prompts that appear on the screen. You will be directed to your SRD reference number, and you can also check your status

If you dial this code, you can also choose the option where SASSA representatives can guide you through the manual. You will receive a message with your reference number and also stating your application status.

The USSD option may not work due to a technical issue, but there are other methods you can use. Dial *120*62277# on your phone, and you will get an instruction manual from the agency administration. Open the manual and follow the instructions provided to recover your reference number. When you are done, you will receive a message confirming your reference number and application status

Another option you can use to check your SASSA SRD number is to use a voice call. Dial 0800 601 001and you will receive a manual from SASSA. Choose 1, and you will receive voice commands through the SASSA assistant. When you follow all the instructions, your reference number will appear on the screen. 

How Many Digits Is SASSA Reference Number?

The SASSA reference number consists of six digits which should be used when communicating with SASSA officials. If you want to update your contact details, such as your email address or cellphone number, SASSA will first verify if you are the original beneficiary of the grant. You will be required to submit your 13-digit South African ID number together with the six-digit Application ID (AppID) provided by SASSA when you first applied for financial aid.
