We are in a digital age. While students once had to head to the school where they wrote matric to get their results or wait for national and local newspapers to share lists of matric results, today, you have a wealth of convenient digital options. For many South African learners, getting their results on their phones will be the most convenient. Here’s how to do it.

Here’s How You Can Get Your Matric Results Sent To Your Phone

There are two key ways matric students can receive their results on their phone- either by USSD code or SMS.

In the case of the SMS service, you can actually sign up in advance. Although you will not receive your results earlier, this means you can relax and stress a little less as you wait for them. You will then receive your results by SMS to your phone once the matric 2024 results are released.

Alternatively, you can use the USSD service on the day the results are released or any time after that. This will send the results per subject directly to your phone.

If you need another convenient way to access your matric results without looking at a newspaper or going to your school, you can also use the Department of Basic Education portal. This will allow you to see your results online. Additionally, you can also sign up for remarks, rechecks, and supplementary exam sessions quickly and conveniently from the portal if you need to use these services.

Do remember that the results you see on these platforms are there to ease your mind and let you know how you did. They do not count as an official statement of results or your matric certificate. You will need to collect both of these from the school through which you wrote your exams. If this is impossible, you should be able to organize a collection at a Department of Basic Education office, but this will need to be pre-arranged.

How Can I Get My Matric Results Through SMS?

Getting your matric results through SMS is easier than ever. You will need to have about R3 of airtime to complete the signup and can do it in advance of the release date. Of course, you will not get your results before the official release date. Instead, they will be sent to your phone on that day. The code to sign up is 35658, and you will need your ID number and matric exam number.

How Can I Get My Matric Results Through USSD?

To use the matric results’ USSD service, dial *120*35658#. Again, you will need your matric exam number and ID number. Follow the on-screen prompts, entering information as asked. Your results per subject will be sent to the phone after this.

Unlike the SMS service, you cannot sign up for the USSD service in advance but will be able to use it after 6 am on the day results are released.

What Is The SMS Code For Matric Results (2024)?

If you want to sign up in advance to receive your matric results for the class of 2024, you can use the SMS service. Text your ID number and 13-digit matric exam number to 35658. There may be other prompts to follow. Complete the registration, and your results will be delivered to your phone by SMS as soon as they are released. The charge for this SMS matric result service is currently R3. While you can sign up in advance, you will not receive your results before they are officially released.

How Do I Get A Copy Of My Matric Results Online?

You can check your matric results online on the website of the Department of Basic Education. You will enter your ID number and matric examination number and follow the prompts to access an online copy of your results. Remember, these are not the official certificate or statement of results, and most tertiary education facilities will not accept a simple printout as proof of your marks. This you will need to collect from the school at which you wrote or a Department office (by arrangement).

If you have misplaced or lost your original matric certificate, you can also apply for a re-issue online through the Department of Basic Education eServices portal. You will need an affidavit stating what happened to the original, copies of your ID, and proof of payment of the fee to proceed.

What Is The Barcode On My Matric Certificate?

The barcode on your matric certificate is part of the security features used to ensure that it is a valid and legitimate certificate. When scanned, it leads back to the matric certificate number you were issued. You will also find this number in the bottom right of your certificate, should you need it in the future. In addition to watermarks, paper styles, and some other security features used by Umalusi, who controls the issuing of the NSC certificates alongside the Department of Basic Education.

Getting your matric results on your phone is easy and convenient now you know how.
