How Do I Check the Status of My Maternity Claim?

You can check your maternity claim status online using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Make sure you have access to the internet. Check your balance via the UIF website or UIF app. To use the official website to check your balance, follow the steps below:

This option is one of the easiest because you can use it anywhere and anytime as long as you have access to the internet.

You can also check your maternity UIF status via email. Send an email to BCP@labour.gov.za requesting details about your UIF maternity claim status. Be sure to include your name, ID number, and UIF registration number.

The traditional option is to visit your nearest labour office and sign the register. Make sure you have your ID and UIF registration number. The officials at the center will check to see if your claim has been activated. They will tell you when to expect your first payment if it is active. If not yet activated, they will also tell you when it can be activated.

You can reach the Labour Center by phone to ask why there has been a delay in the disbursement of your payment. Call the UIF office on 012 337 1997. When you call the office, ensure you have your ID number, registration number, and full name handy to avoid wasting time.

Another option to check your maternity status is to use your mobile phone, where you dial *134*843#. Once you dial this code, follow the prompts and provide the correct details. When everything has been verified, the status will be displayed.

When you use any offline method above, ensure you do so during weekdays. Call the Labour offices between 0730 hours and 1600 hours. Use official communication channels and avoid calling private numbers belonging to the employees working at the office.

How Long Does Maternity UIF Take To Pay Out?

The application process for maternity UIF benefits usually takes between three and eight weeks, which is why people are encouraged to apply earlier. Although it can take longer to get your first payment, you should call the UIF if eight weeks pass without approval of your application.

When you get your first payout, you must submit the U-14 form to UIF every month for your money to be sent. Once your claim has been activated, nothing will stop you from getting the rest of the funds during your maternity leave.

How Much Maternity Pay Will I Get?

When you pay contributions to UIF every month, you are eligible to get maternity benefits for 121 days or four months. For every six months you work, one month goes to UIF for four months. This applies to people who have been contributing to UIF for the past four years. UIF will pay between 38% and 58% of your gross salary, and the limit is R14, 782. If you earn less money than this figure, you will get a bigger percentage.

Whatever the salary you earn, UIF pays a maximum of R12,478 for maternity benefits. This amount is divided between the four consecutive months you are on maternity leave. If you choose to extend your maternity leave beyond the stipulated four months, you will not get additional UIF benefits. Additionally, if you receive a full salary, you cannot claim UIF benefits. If you have a miscarriage or experience a stillbirth in your trimester, you can get UIF benefits for up to six weeks. The money is paid directly into your bank account.

How Do I Know if My Ei Maternity Claim Has Been Approved?

When your maternity claim has been accepted, you will get a notification via SMS or email, depending on the preferred communication you selected. Once the application gets the nod, you should expect to receive the payment in your bank account within four days. If you physically check at the labour department, you will get a slip if your claim gets approval. If it has not yet been activated, you will be informed about the latest developments.
