How to cancel a Unisa module after registration

When it comes to altering your academic life, one thing you can do for sure is cancelling your modules. The University of South Africa has made it possible for students to fully suspend their modules within a specific time without facing any serious consequences.

There are so many reasons that could make a student cancel his module; some of the reasons could be a change in interest, commitments, difficulty in the course or genuine mistakes.

If you are convinced about cancelling your modules, here are the steps to follow.

Can I change my course at Unisa after registration?

Choosing to change your course at UNISA after registration can be both intimidating and life-changing. Whether you’re experiencing a change in career aspirations, discovering new interests, or seeking a fresh academic challenge, it’s crucial to take prompt action.

To start, it would be a good idea to reach out to academic advisors and discuss your plans. They can provide guidance and answer any questions you may have. Additionally, take some time to familiarise yourself with the university’s policies and deadlines regarding course changes. This will ensure that you are aware of any restrictions or requirements that may apply. Make sure you are ready to face any administrative challenges that may come up, and make sure that your new decision is in line with your long-term goals. Welcome and embrace this change as a wonderful opportunity for personal growth. It’s a chance for you to customise your education to better suit your evolving needs. Ultimately, successfully navigating this transition at UNISA can result in a more satisfying and gratifying academic experience.

You have the option to either continue pursuing your current qualification or make a change at this point. If you wish to make changes to your application, you must apply for admission to the new qualification during the upcoming application period.

How do I get a refund from Unisa registration?

The transparency and accountability make it easy for students to get a refund when they deserve it. Requesting a refund from UNISA registration is the right thing to do if you overpaid your fees.

This process is free and comes with no cost to students. It is important to understand the process can take time due to the administrative checks and background checks to be done.

How much does Unisa charge per module?

The cost per module is subject to the qualification you may choose. UNISA does not provide a fixed amount to students who may wish to change or register new modules.

Knowing that every student needs to register between 4 and 6 modules, it is important to understand the cost involved.

Within the academic year, UNISA charges an amount between R1500 and R8000 for every single module within the qualification chosen.

What happens when you cancel a module?

Cancelling a module means suspending it from your student activity. When you cancel your module, these are taken off your academic curriculum.

In this case, you are not graded on these modules, which means you can not pursue them in the first place.

Cancelling your module is free of charge with no cost. You only pay a price if the timeline to cancel modules is due. Once you cancel your module, it means you have decided to forfeit part or the full fees paid
