- They will now reply to you with a message with details of the next steps to follow.
You are to apply just once via their website or WhatsApp number. SASSA will contact you once your application process is successful.
SASSA R350 Eligibility Criteria
Even though applications for SASSA R350 grant are open to people wanting to benefit, it is best to know that before you can get access to this grant, you must meet these new requirements set by SASSA. Below are the requirements you must meet ;
- South African citizen, a permanent resident or a refugee registered with the Home Affairs, a holder of a special permit under the Special Angolan Dispensation, the Lesotho Exemption Permit.With dispensation; Zimbabwe Exemption Permit Dispensation; or an Asylum seeker with a valid visa or section 22 permit
- Be unemployed
- Have an income f R624 or less per month
- Be between the ages of 18 and 60
- You must live within the borders of South Africa.

- Not receiving COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress grant.
- Not receiving Unemployment Insurance Fund. National Student Financial Aid Scheme or any social grant by SASSA
- Be registered on the Home Affairs database or SASSA’s social grant database for people without ID documents.

Now that all application processes are done online, you don’t need hardcopy documents. All you have to do is give all the necessary information on the documents by SASSA. You will be asked for your ID number; Home Affairs Refugee Permit number only if you are a refugee, your identity(name, age etc.), bank details and residential address.

SASSA R350 Grant Application Opening And Closing Date
President Cyril Ramaphosa clearly announced in March 2022 that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, commonly known as the R350 grant, will be extended for 12 months. This means SASSA will continue to give grants till March 2024. The SRD grant was planned to end in March 2022, but because the number of individuals who were benefiting was as much as 40%, it had to extend as people who needed it for their basic needs were many.
By this, SASSA grant applications are open monthly to all persons who wish to benefit from this grant. Any outstanding payment will be made before the end of March.
Can I Reapply For SASSA R350 Grant?
The answer is yes. Reapplication of the SASSA R350 grant is required to be done once every three months. Amendments have been made by Sassa, which all individuals who did not apply for the new requirements. Failure to do this means your upcoming grants will not be given to you. Below are the steps to follow to reapply:
- Visit the srd.sassa.gov.za website
- Select “click here to update your existing application.”
- Fill in your South African ID number and mobile number to log in
- Update your details in the fields required
- Resubmit your application
However, this process means you still need the grant.
