combined is to give you the chance to gain admission into tertiary. Also, it makes your matric certificate look attractive and appealing.

In this blog post, we will delve more into how matric subjects can be added to matric certificates, the process involved in adding matric subjects, the procedure with matric rewrite, and subject chance. This topic will cover matric results, combining matric results and matric certificates.

How Does Adding Matric Subjects Work?

The South African matric examination is the gateway to higher education. Students who successfully complete the matric exams have the chance to continue their education at the tertiary stage. The matric exam is part of the final grading for grade 12 students.

Considering the amendment in the matric exams, adding matric subjects has become easy and possible. But the question is, how does adding a matric subject work?

The standard matric requires you to pass some subject, which includes compulsory and electric. These subjects are part of the prerequisite for gaining your final matric certificate.

If you are ready to add subjects to your matric, you can do so by registering those subjects and preparing for them before the final subject. These additional subjects are normally taken outside school hours and add the necessary grading to your final score. Although they are considered extra and do not affect your final matric certification, they certainly add more value to your academic work.

The subjects you choose to study can be beneficial for your university admissions or job applications, depending on how relevant they are to your chosen field of study or career.

Certainly, there is an option for those who do not pass their matric exams. This opportunity is available for them to retake the matric exams and get better at it.

Those who can rewrite or upgrade the matric may be looking forward to moving into tertiary, and therefore, the concerns lie on the results to be presented.

How to Add Matric Subjects to Matric Certificate

Obviously, there are restrictions, but adding subjects to your matriculation certificate is permissible. Make sure you are adding subjects to your Matric Certificate that you will need in order to be admitted to a program or institution before adding any more courses. In order to increase your chances of passing, make sure these are topics you are interested in as well. Make sure the institution you are applying to will allow more topics later on as well.

You can add your matric subjects to your certificate by applying for the matric upgrade course. This is a step in the procedure that they have already completed.

In the real case, you must submit a request with your data, request, and justification to the Department of Education in any province in order to have your matric topics added to your certificate.

Can I Add Subjects To My Matric Certificate That I Did Not Have In Matric?

Adding your subjects to your matric certificate is part of the process of making your academic work look good. But what happens if those subjects were not part of your matric?

Here is what you need to know about this.

If you did not have these subjects in your matric, the only way is to work on a matric upgrade. This will allow you to choose at least 4 subjects and then be registered for an upgrade. With this, you have the chance to add those subjects to your matric certificate.

In the case, where these subjects fall out of your scope, you will not have the chance to add them to your matric certificate.

Can I Rewrite My Matric And Change Subjects?

When it comes to a Matric Rewrite, it’s important to understand that you cannot alter the subjects you had chosen before. This means that you will need to stick with the subjects you initially selected when you first took your matric exams. This will help you study effectively and achieve the best possible results. When you focus on fewer subjects, you can dedicate more time and energy to each one. This can improve your chances of succeeding in those areas.

How Much Does It Cost To Re-Issue A Matric Certificate?

Under certain conditions, the Department of Basic Education or the provincial department of education has the ability to re-issue a matric certificate with updated information. The cost of reissuing your matric certificate is approximately R146. If you have lost your matric certificate and are looking to request one, the Department of Education is the last and best point. The re-issue of the matric certificate is costly because of the administrative work and due diligence that needs to be done. If you are preparing to get your matric certificate re-issued to you, keep in mind it could cost you not more than R164.

What Happens After I Add Or Change My Matric Subjects?

Once you have added or changed your subjects for Matric, you will be able to combine your Matric results.

With this feature, you can now consolidate all your Matric results onto a single Matric Certificate, eliminating the need for multiple certificates. Additionally, you will receive an updated Matric Statement of Results that accurately reflects your newly chosen subjects and the corresponding grades you have achieved in them.

How Does Combining Matric Results Work?

Combining Matric results depends on whether you took the  Matric Rewrite.

The Department of Education runs the matric rewrite across the South African country. Before, your Matric results were automatically pooled to show the best results. If you choose the latter, you must actively apply to the DBE to combine your results. This lets you improve findings before merging. It’s important to note that the Second Chance Programme is for people under 21, whereas the Matric Rewrite Course is for people 21 and above. The age restrictions determine whether you qualify for each program.

How Long Does It Take To Combine Matric Statements?

Waiting for your combined matric statement is really an underrated moment for many individuals. After putting in the request to combine your matric results, the Department of Education must follow through with the process. The process and procedures involved in combining matric statements can take a longer time than expected.

It typically takes about four to six weeks for the Department of Education to process and combine Matric results after you submit your application. Once this process is complete, your Matric Certificate will be ready for you to collect.
