For Older Persons and Disability-related grants, visit your nearest SAPO branch on Mondays and Tuesdays to exchange the card. How Much Do SASSA Beneficiaries Receive Monthly

SASSA, or the South African Social Security Agency, assists South African citizens through grants. These grants can help people who are struggling financially due to various circumstances. Keep reading if you’re curious about how much beneficiaries receive monthly from SASSA.

Firstly, to qualify for SASSA, you must be a South African citizen or have permanent residency. If you’re single, you must not earn more than R4,400 a month or R52,800 a year. If you’re married, your combined income must not exceed R8,800 a month or R105,600 a year.

There are different grants that SASSA provides, including the disability grant, the child support grant, and the old age grant. The disability grant is set to increase to R2090, and the child support grant will increase to R510 starting in April 2024.

The old age grant is R1,990 per month for those below 75 years old and R2,010 per month for those over 75 years old. It’s important to note that the grant amount is revised annually.

SASSA does not provide grants to foreigners, but they can still seek help from an NGO or other welfare assistance if needed.

How Much Do Old People Get From SASSA?

Are you a South African citizen or a permanent resident of South Africa aged 60 or above? If so, you are eligible for an Older Person’s Grant, previously known as the Old Age Pension. This grant supports you in your golden years, so you don’t have to worry about financial issues.

To be eligible, you must not receive any other social grant or be cared for in a state institution. You also cannot earn more than R86 280 if you are single or R172 560 if you are married. Additionally, you cannot have assets worth more than R1 227 600 if you are single or R2 455 200 if you are married.

The maximum amount you can receive is R2 080 per month, increasing to R2 100 per month if you are over 75. You will receive your grant via cash, electronic deposit, or an institution like a nursing home.

It’s important to know that your grant can get reviewed, and your income when applying for it will form the basis for this decision. If your circumstances change or you fail to cooperate when your grant is reviewed, your grant may be suspended. In such cases, SASSA will notify you in advance.

If you are eligible for an Older Person’s Grant, simply visit your nearest SASSA office with your 13-digit bar-coded ID and proof of your marital status, residence, income, assets, and private pension. Your application may take up to three months to process, after which you will receive your grant from the date you applied.

The service is entirely free, and if your application is unsuccessful, SASSA will inform you in writing why your application was unsuccessful. However, you can appeal the decision within 90 days of being notified. Remember, you deserve to enjoy your golden years, and an Older Person’s Grant can provide you with financial security so you can do just that.

How Much is SASSA Grant Per Child?

Are you a caregiver in South Africa needing financial assistance to help raise a child? The child support grant may be just what you need. To qualify, you must be the child’s primary caregiver, a South African citizen, or a permanent resident and earn no more than R52 800 per year if you are single or R105 600 per year if you are married. The child must be under 18, live with you, and not be cared for in a state institution. You can receive R500 per month per child, paid in cash, through electronic deposit, or by an institution administering the grant.

If you think you qualify, visit the nearest SASSA office with your 13-digit bar-coded ID and the child’s birth certificate. If you don’t have these documents, you must complete an affidavit in a standard SASSA format. It may take up to three months to process your application, but if approved, you will be paid from the date you applied.

How Do I Know If SASSA Paid Me?

Are you a beneficiary of SASSA (South African Social Security Administration) and don’t know how to determine if you have been paid? Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! Here are some simple and easy ways to find out.

The first and most reliable way is to verify your bank account. SASSA typically deposits social grants directly into the recipient’s bank account, so checking your account is the easiest way to know if you have been paid. You can access your online banking account and visit the nearest ATM or bank branch.

Alternatively, if you can’t access your bank account or haven’t received any funds yet, call SASSA’s toll-free line at 0800 60 10 11 or visit the nearest office to find your payment status.

Another option is to check the payment schedule on the SASSA website. Payment schedules list the dates for each type of social award and can help you determine if your payment is due and has been received.

Lastly, you can use the USSD code 1203210# to check your payment status using your mobile phone. Just follow the prompts to input your ID number and other information, and the system will notify you if a payment has been made.
