How do I know if I am registered for eFiling?
If you are unsure if you are registered for eFiling, there are a few ways that you can check this.
The easiest way to do this is to attempt logging in to your eFiling account and checking your status yourself. You would have needed to have created an eFiling account in the past; however, in some instances, this may have been done for you already by a previous employer or tax practitioner.
If you are unsure about your username or password, you can retrieve these by clicking on “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” on the homepage. You will require your username in order to retrieve your password, so it’s always advisable to request this information first.
Alternatively, you can:
- Ask your employer for the details
- Use the SARS online query function
- Call the SARS Contact Centre on 0800 00 7277
The Notice of Registration (IT150) will reflect your tax reference number and serves to confirm that you are a registered and verified taxpayer. You can request a copy of this notice in the following ways:
- eFiling: Click the ‘Notice of Registration’ icon and follow the prompts
- SMS: Send TRN (SPACE) ID/ Passport/ Asylum Seeker number to SARS on 47277
- MobiApp: Similar to eFiling, you can request your Notice of Registration through your MobiApp
You can also send a query directly to SARS using the Online Query function, which can be found here.
